Dr. Steven F. Harwin is an internationally recognized expert in the field of joint replacement and arthroscopic surgery, serving as a visiting professor, lecturer and operating surgeon at medical centers and CME courses in the United States, United Kingdom, Europe, Japan, India, China, South America and others. He graduated The Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse, served his internship at The Beth Israel Medical Center in New York and his residency in Orthopaedic Surgery at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine.
Dr. Harwin conducts on-going clinical research and has published many studies in the field of arthroplasty and arthroscopic surgery. He is a designer and patent holder of several orthopaedic devices including joint replacement prostheses and instrumentation, bone anchors, and devices to facilitate early rehabilitation of the knee and hip. He is an innovator and designer of instruments used in field of less invasive surgical techniques.
He is a member of the editorial boards of several orthopaedic publications including The Journal of Arthroplasty, The Journal of Knee Surgery, and serves as Section Editor of 'Tips and Techniques' for the journal Orthopedics. He is a charter member of the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons, a member of the Association of Professional Team Physicians and the American College of Sports Medicine. He is an Associate Clinical Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine and Chief of Adult Reconstructive Surgery in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery of Beth Israel Medical Center. Dr. Harwin is Surgical Director of the New York Center for Bloodless Medicine and Surgery performing complex joint reconstructions and revision surgery, including those for infection, without blood transfusions.
