Steven M. Reich, MD, is an orthopaedic surgeon specializing in spinal surgery. Currently, he is an attending orthopaedic surgeon at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, New Jersey.

After receiving his medical degree from Albert Einstein College of Medicine in the Bronx, Dr. Reich completed an internship in general surgery at Montefiore Hospital and Medical Center in New York City, a residency in orthopaedic surgery at the Hospital for Joint Diseases Orthopaedic Institute in New York City, and a fellowship in spinal surgery at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital and Pennsylvania Hospital in Philadelphia.

Dr. Reich participates on a number of committees at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital and UMDNJ-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. These include the hospital's Trauma Committee and Quality Improvement Subcommittee for Spine Trauma, and the medical school's Orthopaedic Surgery Education Committee and Rehabilitation Committee. Dr. Reich is also an appointed member of the New Jersey Commission on Spinal Cord Research and a member of its Research Committee.

In addition, Dr. Reich has published articles in the Journal of Spinal Disorders, Trauma Quarterly and Spine. He has also presented multiple lectures for professional societies, including the North American Spine Society and the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.

John D. Tydings, MD, is an orthopaedic surgeon in practice with Central Jersey Spine Associates, P.A. (www.centraljerseyspine.com) in Lawrenceville, New Jersey. He is also on staff at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital.

Dr. Tydings earned his medical degree from Albany Medical College in Albany, New York, following a bachelor's degree from Union College in Schenectady, New York, and postgraduate studies at Columbia University.

He completed both an internship in general surgery and a residency in orthopaedic surgery at Albany Medical Center Hospital in Albany, New York. Dr. Tydings then served as chief orthopaedic surgery resident at the hospital. A fellowship in spine surgery at K.D. Leatherman Spine Center in Louisville, Kentucky, followed. Dr. Tydings received certification from the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgeons two years after completing his fellowship, a certification that he continues to hold.

Dr. Tydings established his current practice in 1995, and from 1997 to 2002, he also served as medical director for Compsource, Inc., a health information company for employers.

Dr. Tydings is a member of several professional organizations, including the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, North American Spine Society, American College of Surgeons and Academy of Medicine of New Jersey.

His publishing credits include the Journal of Experimental Medicine, Journal of Immunology, Current Surgery and the American Journal of Surgery.

Dr. Shepard received his medical degree from Cornell University Medical College following an undergraduate degree from the University of Pennsylvania. He completed a residency in neurosurgery and a research fellowship at the Brain Tumor Research Center at the University of California at San Francisco where he also served as chief neurosurgery resident. Dr. Shepard also completed a neurosurgical fellowship at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center.

Dr. Shepard joined the staff of Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in 1998 and was simultaneously appointed Assistant Professor in the Division of Neurosurgery at UMDNJ-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School.

He received certification from the American Board of Neurological Surgeons in 2003.

His professional memberships include the Society of Neuro Oncology and the Congress of Neurologic Surgeons. In addition, he holds a position on the Editorial Board of Hematology/Oncology Today.

Dr. Shepard has authored several journal articles, with works published in the Journal of Surgical Research and the Journal of Neurosurgery.
