Methodist University Hospital is the only hospital in the Mid-South with the team training, skill and coordination among neurosurgeons, anesthesiology team, O.R. staff and dedicated Neurological Intensive Care Unit, to perform this advanced procedure successfully. MUH is the only center in Memphis offering leading edge procedures for neurological conditions, such as awake craniotomy for brain tumor removal and deep hypothermic circulatory arrest craniotomy for aneurysm. Methodist Healthcare is also home to the Memphis Regional Gamma Knife Center. Methodist University Hospital is the principal teaching site for the University of Tennessee Health Science Center’s neurological/surgical residency program, which in conjunction with the Semmes-Murphey Neurologic & Spine Institute, is one of the most highly regarded medical residency programs in the nation. The Methodist University Hospital Neuroscience Institute is also the only site for adult neurological clinical research and development, and features the area’s most comprehensive neuro-intensive care unit.
