Continuing Medical Education (CME) credits are available to physicians who sign up
for the simulcast on pancreas surgery via the Internet. Viewers will be able to ask questions online as well.
Upon completion of this program, participants should be able to:
- Identify when a mini-Whipple procedure should be considered a viable therapeutic option to treat pancreatic cancer.
- Differentiate the advantages and risks of the mini-Whipple and the “classic” Whipple.
- Discuss modern imaging techniques for pancreatic tumors.
- Discuss the use of endoscopic ultrasound for diagnosis and staging of pancreatic tumors.
- Discuss the techniques/tricks of the mini-Whipple operation.
- Discuss the benefits of glucose sensors, and their future role in tight glycemic control.
- Discuss the recent developments in molecular genetics of pancreatic cancer.
- Discuss the risks and benefits of this type of pancreatic surgery.
