J. Francois Eid, MD
Director, Advanced Urological Care
Clinical Associate Professor of Urology,
Weill-Cornell Medical College
Dr. J. Francois Eid is a Clinical Associate Professor of Urology at the Weill-Cornell Medical College of Cornell University. He is also Director of Advanced Urological Care, PC, a practice entirely focused on the treatment of ED with implants.
Born in Brussels, Dr. Eid received his Bachelor of Science in Bio-Engineering from Brown University in 1976 and his M.D. from The Medical College of Cornell University in 1982. He completed his urological training at the New York Presbyterian Hospital and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in 1988. Prior to founding Advanced Urological Care in 2001, Dr. Eid was Associate Professor in the Departments of Urology at both Weill-Cornell and Sloan Kettering (cf. above). During his 10-year tenure at these institutions, Dr. Eid was exposed to the most challenging cases of ED, acquiring a focused, unparallel surgical experience.
In addition to penile implant surgery, Dr. Eid is skilled at the medical treatment of erectile dysfunction ("impotence"), surgical correction of incontinence with the artificial urinary sphincter, correction of abnormal penile curvature, treatment of Peyronie's disease, and cosmetic penile surgery, including repair of failed penile enlargement surgery. Though he has participated in all of the advances that are promoting the treatment of ED, including the FDA's approval of penile injection therapy and oral and urethral medications (Viagra), his main achievement lies in the delicate area of implant insertion that is, the inflatable Internal Penile Pump | TM|, also known as "penile implant." Dr. Eid's technique places the scrotal pump in an inconspicuous, easily accessible position that allows the patient to both feel and appear entirely "normal."
An accomplished teacher of the Internal Penile Pump |TM| procedure, Dr. Eid gives workshops on these surgical techniques all over the world, including Korea, Japan, Australia, and throughout the United States. His "State of the Art" workshops use multimedia techniques--slides, video clips, and live real-time surgeries. Hundreds of practicing urologists as well as doctors in training (residents) have participated in these events.
In the past 15 years, Dr. Eid has accomplished over 3,000 penile prosthesis implants, and currently averages more than 300 annually. He is also the first physician to perform a penile implant on the World Wide Web. Anyone can see a video clip of this procedure as well as interviews of patients with implants online at urologicalcare.com.
Patients throughout the tri-state area, the U.S., and the world come to the Center for Urological Care because it is the undisputed leader in penile prosthesis. Our staff is committed to providing not only the highest quality of care but the most compassionate as well. Our extensive experience with the inflatable internal penile pump allows us to anticipate the complex needs and concerns of each individual patient, as well as their partners. Our final goal is to assist men in every step in the process of regaining their ability to carry out the act of lovemaking in all its delicacy and humanity.
