Educational Objectives:

  • Primary care physicians, internists, family practitioners, osteopathic physicians, nurse practitioners, and specialists will learn to risk stratify patients at risk for osteoporosis and /or related complications, and identify optimal therapeutic approaches.
  • Primary care physicians, internists, family practitioners, osteopathic physicians, nurse practitioners, and specialists will learn to undertake a systematic evaluation of patients at risk for osteoporosis, including radiological examination and appropriate laboratory markers.
  • Primary care physicians, internists, family practitioners, osteopathic physicians, nurse practitioners, and specialists will learn evidence-based approaches to reducing progression of osteoporosis and risk of fracture complications.
  • Clinicians will learn how to select safe and effective pharmacotherapy for prevention and treatment of postmenopausal osteoporosis.
  • Clinicians will learn how landmark trials and analyses focusing on BMD, bisphosphonate therapy, predictive risk, and fracture reduction should guide clinical management of patients with osteoporosis.
