About AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center (ARMC)
AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center (ARMC)
is a 567-bed, not-for-profit, hospital that was founded
in 1898. The hospital began as a ten-bed facility in
a converted home on Ohio Avenue in Atlantic City. ARMC
City Division is located in Atlantic City, where the
hospital was founded. ARMC Mainland Division, which
opened in 1975, is located in Galloway Township, one
of the state's fastest growing residential and commercial
areas. ARMC offers a number of outpatient-care services,
many of which it provides at the AtlantiCare HealthPlex.
Located in Atlantic City, the HealthPlex offers a wide
range of quality out-patient services in one convenient
location, including primary care, women's services,
laboratory services, radiology and physical therapy.
The Heart Institute, which opened in the summer of 2001, is southeastern New Jersey's first and only full service cardiac surgical and interventional program. Based at ARMC's Mainland Campus, the Heart Institute and its team offer nearly every cardiac interventional procedure available, including angioplasty, electrophysiology studies, pacemaker and defibrillator implantation and open-heart surgery. The Heart Institute also offers off-pump bypass surgery and minimally invasive procedures including coronary artery bypass surgery; valve repair and replacement; and endoscopic vein removal.
The Society of Chest Pain Centers (SCPC) granted the designation of Accredited Chest Pain Center to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center (ARMC) Mainland and City campuses in 2004, making them the first and second accredited Chest Pain Centers in New Jersey, and the 59th and 60th in the nation.
