Fergus McKiernan, MD  

Fergus McKiernan, MD

Metabolic Bone Disease Specialist

Fergus McKiernan, MD, is the director of the Center for Bone Disease at Marshfield Clinic and has been a staff physician at Saint Joseph's Hospital since 1987. Dr. McKiernan received his medical degree from the University of Minnesota Medical School and completed his internship and residency in internal medicine from the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. He is fellowship trained in rheumatology from the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics and is board certified in internal medicine and rheumatology.

In addition to Dr. McKiernan's bone disease practice, he is also a widely published researcher with Marshfield Clinic Research Foundation. His research topics include osteoporosis related injuries and quality of life after percutaneous vertebroplasty.


Dr. Faciszewski  

Thomas Faciszewski, MD

Orthopaedic Surgeon

Thomas Faciszewski, MD, is a board certified orthopaedic surgeon with Marshfield Clinic on staff at Saint Joseph's Hospital. Dr. Faciszewski earned his medical degree from the University of Colorado School of Medicine. After completing a residency in orthopaedic surgery at the University of Utah Medical center, he completed a fellowship in spine surgery at Minnesota Spine Center. In 1997, Dr. Faciszewski was inducted as a fellow into the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.

Dr. Faciszewski is also a researcher with Marshfield Clinic Research Foundation and his publications have been featured in textbooks and periodicals such as Spine, The New England Journal of Medicine and Clinical Genetics.


Dr. Rao  

Sanjay Rao, MD

Neurological Surgeon

Sanjay Rao, MD, is a Marshfield Clinic neurosurgeon on staff at Saint Joseph's Hospital. Dr. Rao received his medical degree from Mount Sinai School of Medicine and completed his internship and residency in general surgery and neurological surgery at the University of California-Irvine Medical Center. He also completed a fellowship in reconstructive spinal neurosurgery at the University of Toronto.

Additionally, Dr. Rao is board certified in neurosurgery and is a member of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, the North American Spine Society and the Congress of Neurological Surgeons.
