About the Physicians and Staff

Daniel Gannon, MD

Daniel Gannon, MD

Daniel Gannon, MD, will perform the total hip replacement procedure with the Tri-LockĀ® Bone Preservation Stem through the Direct Anterior Approach on a standard operating table. Dr. Gannon believes that this THA procedure gives patients best long term results by most accurately recreating hip mechanics of leg length and offset. Additionally, component positioning is accurately achieved utilizing a supine position and intraoperative fluoroscopy. The new Tri-Lock BPS system facilitates the ease of insertion of the femoral stem and minimizes bone loss and soft tissue release.

Dr. Gannon completed his residency in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and finished a fellowship in total joint replacement of the hip and knee from Dr. Tom Mallory at Ohio State University. He began his practice in Bozeman, Montana, in 1989. Previously he performed traditional posterior approach total hip replacements for the first 15 years of practice. He began using the direct anterior approach in 2005, initially using a specialized traction table, and more recently a standard operating room table.

Dr. Gannon currently trains other surgeons on the Anterior Total Hip Replacement Approach using the Tri-Lock Bone Preservation Stem from DePuy. Dr. Gannon is a member of the design team of surgeons who developed the stem, which launched earlier this year.
